Ensuring workplace safety, health, and worker welfare is not merely a governmental responsibility; it reflects the modern society's sense of justice and the government's profound commitment to human life. The need for a robust system enabling workers to report safety and health issues at their workplaces fearlessly, without hindrance, and in a timely manner has arisen.
Recognizing this need, as part of Kerala government's labor-welfare policies, the Factories and Boilers Department has developed an ultra-modern digital occupational health safety grievance redressal mobile app called "Thozil Suraksha" (തൊഴിൽ സുരക്ഷ) for lakhs of factory workers in Kerala. The official launch of this mobile app is happening here today.

What is Thozil Suraksha App?

Developed by the Factories & Boilers Department, this app provides a system to bring workplace safety issues to the attention of authorities directly through a mobile phone, eliminating traditional handwritten complaints and office visits.

It is designed in a way that enables ordinary workers to inform authorities about their complaints in the simplest manner possible. The app's biggest feature is the voice-enabled complaint submission system.

The Bhashini platform's Speech-to-Text system, providing national-level language technology support, is used as the technical foundation, making the service available in more than eleven Indian languages including Malayalam. Through this, the worker's voice is accurately converted into a digital complaint, overcoming language barriers and reaching the administrative system at lightning speed.

This is a great relief for inter-state workers in Kerala's factories and construction sector, those with limited proficiency in local languages, and those facing difficulties in reading and writing.

Mobile OTP-based official user authentication ensures security. After submitting complaints in multimedia formats such as voice, text, photo, and video, status tracking is available until final action.

Apart from factories, the app provides a powerful, reliable platform for construction sector workers and the general public to report workplace safety issues. This mobile application will be available on Google Play Store and other platforms by the first week of March after security audit.

The goal is to transform workplace safety into a more transparent and responsive system with the help of technology.
